The Lassiter Trojans traveled south on September 19, 2019 to take on East Cobb rival Wheeler. The Wildcats were ready for the challenge.
The game started slow, with Wheeler striking first with a passing TD late in the first quarter. Wheeler would score again in the second quarter with a 70-yard burst from running back J.D. Thomas to finish the half, and the game, at 14-0.
It was mostly a back-and-forth contest with minimal action to hold the fans’ attention. It was a defensive battle, especially in the scoreless second half, with both teams struggling for yardage. Turnovers were also a factor.
All-in-all, it was a win for Wheeler, but not in a very convincing fashion. Wheeler travels to Roswell next Friday, and Lassiter has the week off to prepare for Kennesaw Mountain at home on October 4.
