The Sprayberry Yellow Jackets had a late game starting at 7:30 (pm) against the Harrison Hoyas. Early in the first half the teams looked pretty even. The Yellow Jackets gave up points with five minutes left in the first, when David Roberts broke loose for a 35-yard sprint for a TD. The quarter ended with the score at 7-0.
Early in the second quarter, the Yellow Jackets put a TD of their own on the board with a short run from Demarion Owens to tie the game up. After this, however, the Yellow Jackets began to struggle on both sides of the field. They gave up big plays on defense and allowed too many sacks on offense. Late in the second, Sprayberry missed a 45-yard FG, giving the ball back to the Hoyas with decent field position. The Hoyas worked the ball down the field with less than a minute in the half to score another TD before the break; it was 27-7 at halftime.
The second half was much the same as the Hoyas scored two long rushing TDs by Jay Ziglor in the third quarter. Both teams kept quiet in the fourth and no scoring took place. The Yellow Jackets were out of it tonight and lost 42-7.
The Yellow Jackets have the week off and travel to Acworth on Oct. 4 to take on Allatoona in a conference game. The Hoyas have Dalton at home on Sept. 27.
