The Cobb County Wrestling Invitational was held over the past two days. Over this span, hundreds of budding athletes went toe-to-toe in an attempt to become the Cobb County Champion of their weight class.
While there were six teams that had a champion, one school dominated. Pope were superb throughout the tournament, accumulating 114.5 points more than the next closest team (Lassiter, 192). Not only did they run away with the finals round as well. Six of the champions came from Pope, four came from Lassiter, and 1 came from the remaining schools (Walker, Hillgrove, Kell, and Harrison).
Setting the tone for Pope in the finals, freshman Aiden Karpinski took home a comfortable victory. Following his victory would be Joey Robinson in the 119 weight class, Max Druhot in the 126 weight class, Troy Gable in the 160 weight class, Andrew Barner in the 170 weight class, and Dylan Moss in the 195 weight class.
While they may not have preformed as well overall as Pope, Lassiter certainly had multiple standout performers. After David Panone (132) gave the school their first champion of the afternoon, Lassiter followed up with RJ Weston (152), Jack Dyess (182), and Francisco Valle (285).
Rounding out the champions is Austin Westbrook (113) from Walker, Jarrod Pominville (138) from Harrison, Ricky Roberto (145) from Hillgrove, and Andrew Parlato (220, by forfeit) from Kell.
