The 2019 Osborne Raiders just got back from Nationals and they have a lot to celebrate. Not only did they place 7th in the nation in team competition, Jennifer Ortiz placed 3rd in the nation in the individual female competition!
When Chief Fagan was asked his reaction to Jennifer Ortiz placing so high, he responded, “I knew she would place in the top 5. I’m watching all these males pass by while I’m waiting for Rubio to finish so I can give him water and all of a sudden I see Ortiz coming up the wall and I see her just pass all these males. She was only a couple seconds off from second place and became the highest placing female in Osborne history.” What an accomplishment!
We asked Jennifer about how she felt about the big accomplishment and she responded with, “it was something that I worked hard for but I felt that I could have done better considering I was seconds away.” She also mentioned that the only thing she would have done differently is to not spend as much time on the wall. This is the only area where she feels she took too long and could have done better.
Overall, the National Raider competition was a huge success for Osborne and, I’m sure Chief is already preparing for another successful season next year!
