The Pope Greyhounds travelled to Austell, GA last night to take on the South Cobb Eagles in a rainy, region match-up.
The Greyhounds #21 RB Joseph Stellmach had himself a night with three touchdowns. A 3-yard rushing touchdown by Stellmach gave them the early edge at the beginning of the first quarter. The extra point was good to make the score 7-0.
After stuffing the Eagles in a fourth and out situation, Stellmach scored once again with an 8-yard rushing touchdown. The extra point made the score 14-0.
The Eagles finally started to get something going on offense with an 85-yard rushing touchdown by #23 RB Jonathan Simmons. The extra point was good and the Eagles made it a one-score deficit, 14-7.
The Greyhounds pulled away in the second half and the Eagles simply could not come back. With multiple first-down drives up the field, the Greyhounds finished the Eagles with a final score of 35-7.
The South Cobb Eagles take on the Kell High School Longhorns next Friday while the Pope Greyhounds take on the Rabun County High School Tigers.
