Region 2-7A’s postseason awards were dominated by some of Cobb County’s brightest stars.
Pebblebrook’s George Washington won the region’s Coach of the Year honors. In addition to leading Pebblebrook to a 22-3 regular-season record and a No. 1 seed in the state tournament, Coach Washington celebrated his 200th career win this season.
McEachern’s Phyllis Arthur also won the Coach of the Year honors on the girls’ side. Arthur led McEachern to an undefeated run in region play and a No. 1 seed in the state tournament.
The boys Co-Players of the Year award went to McEachern’s Cam McDowell and Pebblebrook’s Danny Stubbs.
Denim DeShields brought another award to McEachern, as she was named the girls Player of the Year.
Pebblebrook and McEachern players fill the All-Region first team, second team, and honorable mentions lists as well.
Seven McEachern players are recognized on the All-Region lists. Jill Hollingshead, Caelan Ellis and Chance Moore were named to the first team. Sianny Sanchez-Oliver and Kristen Roche made the second team list. Bobby Moore and Kiara Cole-Messiah are honorable mentions.
The Falcons had six players named to first team, second team, and honorable mentions lists. Jamall Clyce, Tyler Shirley and Kania Seymour are Pebblebrook’s first team representatives. Kelcei Rivers and Aaron Reddish were named to the second team. Blake Hadley rounds things out, as he was named to the honorable mentions list.
Campbell was well represented on each list as well. The Spartans had nine players on the All-Region lists. Nia Boseman and Laila Battle are the Spartans’ first team listees. Sarah Tubb, Chelsea Lewis, David Clark and Jeremiah Campbell are on the second team list. Tai Harvey, Jada Fitzgerald and Chandler Jones are Campbell’s honorable mentions.
