On September 28, 2019, the Kennesaw State Owls hosted the Reinhardt Eagles at Fifth Third Bank Stadium in Kennesaw. The Owls dominated the game and won the game easily 31-7. The game was shortened due to weather, and was called with 5:35 left in the third quarter. The game was billed as “Education Day” and local educators and businesses were highlighted throughout the game.
Dean Yoder, principal of Fair Oaks Elementary in Marietta, was honored in the north end zone right before halftime. Principal Yoder is a three-time graduate of KSU, earning his bachelor’s, master’s, and specialist degrees from the Bagwell College of Education. He is also one of three 2013 KSU Distinguished Alumni Award recipients (the highest honor the university bestows on its alumni) and one of six Inaugural members of the Bagwell College of Education Hall of Fame in 2018.
When asked what this meant to him, Mr. Yoder was quick with praise of his own: “I cannot say enough about the support that I have received over the years from Kennesaw State University—as a teacher, and as an administrator. Bagwell College’s commitment to its graduates has far exceeded my expectations. Without hesitation, KSU has delivered professional development for my staff, support for the community I serve, and has always answered my call for help. It is the same type of support that I have always received from Cobb County School District since I joined four years ago.”
Bagwell College and KSU Athletics partnered to collect school supplies at the game that will be donated to Fair Oaks Elementary. Donations are still being accepted and collected at The School Box in Town Center (425 Barret Parkway, Kennesaw, GA 30144). Congratulations to Principal Yoder and Fair Oaks. You make CCSD proud!
